Dippin Dots nail polish tutorial

My Dippin Dot Nails!!!Yeah, I know that my hands are in an akward position:)
Hey everyone! This week I was feeling summery, so when I looked at all of my nail polishes, I wanted to use all of the bright, summery colors. While figuring out what to do, I stumbled upon a couple blogs , like Amber's , who did a dippin dot themed nail art that I loved and could include all of my neon colors in. Score! Also, I just bought some dotting tools from Amazon that I wanted to try, so I was also excited that I could use them instead of my usual dotting tool (the head of a pin stuck onto a pencil's eraser). Yipee! The nail polishes that I used were: Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri Nail Polish in Snappy Sorbet, Milani's Neon Polish in PINK ROCKS, Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear Nail Polish in Mellow Yellow., Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear Nail Polish in Blue Me Away, Sally Hansen's Intsta-Dri Nail Polish in Clearly Quick, Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails Nail Polish Base Coat, and Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear Nail Polish in Mellow Yellow.
Tutorial:
  1. Paint a clear base coat of nail polish to lengthen the wear time and strengthen your nails. I'm using Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails Base Coat. Let dry.
  2. Pour a small amount (about quarter sized) of each nail polish color on a painter's pallet if you can, and use that to make the nail polish more easily accessable for the dots.
  3. Pick up some paint with your dotting tool, and dot a circle onto your nail. Continue doing this, varying the dot colors, until your nail is covered. Let dry.
  4. Seal in your new gorgeous nails with a clear coat. I love Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri nail polish in Clearly Quick.
That's it! I love this nail look, and whenever I look at my nails, they make me hungry for Dippin Dots! Thanks for reading!

Turn $5 shoes from Walmart into cute and unique shoes with Mod Podge and Paper

Once again, sorry that I haven't blogged in a while. Life's just so busy that I haven't really had time to blog. (Yeah, I know, I've used that excuse alot. It's always true though.)Anyway, one of the reasons that I was busy was because I was decorating my shoes! I bought some plain white shoes at Walmart for $5 and then decorated them. I'm super excited about how these turned out. Here's what I did to decorate them!

Materials:

  • Plain shoes
  • Magazines or Printer Paper (and a printer)
  • Mod Podge
  • Paintbrush
Instructions
  1. Choose whether you'd like to mod podge on magazine clippings, or if you'd like to print out small pictures on a lnkjet printer. If you print pictures out, there is a chance that the ink will run. To prevent this from happening, I suggest leaving the papers for a day to make sure that the ink is completely dry and will not smudge. I mod podged magazine clippings on to my shoe because I didn't want to wait for the paper to dry completely ( I may be just a tad bit impatient), also I wanted the colors to be bright, and my printer was running out of toner, so it would probably turn out more colorless. The size that I suggest for pictures is about a one inch square, although I cut out some larger pictures for the background of my shoe. This is because when I covered my shoe with small pictures, even if there was a space in between the small pictures, it would be covered by a design.

 2. Create a Mod Podge sandwich. By this I mean to apply one coat of mod podge and immediately afterwards apply the pictures, then to seal with another coat of mod podge. When working on the first layer of mod podge, I applied it in sections and then glued the pictures on, and then applied mod podge to another section and repeated this process. I decided on only mod podging the top section of my shoe, but you could mod podge as little or as much as you'd like. The mod podge that I used was Outdoor Mod Podge, so even if I step in a puddle, my shoes should be safe

3. Let it dry.

4. Add any other elements to your shoe. I used a blue sharpie to go along the edges of fabric to really make it pop.

5. Admire your new shoes!

Review: Jessie's Girl Nail Polish in Glee

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been forever since I wrote a post, life's just been so busy with school and homework, so it's hard to find time to blog. Also, my new obsession with one of the best shows in the world, LOST probably doesn't help either. This week, I'm wearing a Jessie's Girl High Intensity Nail Polish in the color Glee. Glee is one of those colors that's just so pretty that I have to just stare at it all day, rolling my fingers back and forth so the sparkles catch the light. Then someone rudely brings me back to reality by saying, "Heellllooo, Earth to Carrieeee." Glee for me is slightly reminiscent of wraping paper. It brings me back to right before a birthday party, wrapping a present and anxiously waiting. It also reminds me of mermaid's tails. Okay, I haven't officially seen one, but I love books about teenagers turning into mermaids (don't worry, it's not that weird a book choice, I'm still in middle school), so I think that I've kind of figured out what they should look like. I've never been a huge fan of mythical beings like unicorns, but for some reason mermaids intrigue me. I think it's the concept of looking slightly like a human, but being able to swim insanely quickly in water. I remember a show that I used to watch called H₂0 which was about mermaids who led completely normal teen lives, and they sped through water, beating boats by a long shot. Being not the best swimmer in the world, I was amazed with their speed. Glee is a holographic nail polish, and appears either a dark blue or sea green, depending on the lighting. Because it's a holo polish, small flecs of sparkles are visible, but from a distance, it appears to be a blue-green, almost metalic, color. The picture below doesn't do Glee justice, it's a truly gorgous color, and the picture doesn't even begin to capture it's beauty. I've been wearing this nail polish for 5 days now, and it has two major chips, and five minor chips. Honestly, that's about average wear time for me. I'm really hard on my nails, since my fingers are always doing something so that probably shortens wear time. I love Glee! (I'm talking about the nail polish FYI, that wasn't just a random outburst about a TV show...although that's totally the kind of thing that I would do) Bye!

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer Review

Hey everyone! I bought Maybelline's Fit Me Concealer in the color 115 about a week ago and, once again, Maybelline did a good job on concealers. Will it replace my favorite concealer, Maybelline's Mineral Power Concealer that I did a review on here? Probably not, but it's a great, inexpensive concealer. Maybelline also has a blush, bronzer, pressed powder, and liquid foundation in this line that you can buy from here (you have to click on the "Show More" button located under and between the bronzer and foundation to view their pressed powder) or almost any other drugstore that sells Maybelline. I like Maybelline's Fit Me Concealer because it has good coverage, comes in many colors, and blends nicely. I use Maybelline's Fit Me Concealer mainly on blemishes, and it covers well. I also love that this concealer comes in 18 shades, 6 for light skin, 6 for medium skin, and 6 for darker skin. I often have trouble finding a concealer that is a good shade for me, and appreciate that Maybelline has created a concealer in many different shades and undertones. Love it! Are you excited about Maybelline's Fit Me Concealer?

Valentine's Day nails tutorial

Hey everybody! So, for Valentine's Day, I decided to do a glittery, girly design on my nails. So, pink and purple nail polish and glitter automatically came to mind. Here it is!

1. Paint a basecoat of purple. Let dry. I'm using Wet n Wild's Megalast Nail Polish in "On a Trip". Sorry about the pic, it's horrible quality and the real color is a little ligther than that.

2. Using a thin nail brush (or, if you're totally ninja, a normal brush) paint a pink heart on top of the purple basecoat.

3. Tap pink glitter onto the pink heart while it's still wet. The glitter that I'm using is by Martha Stewart in the color tourmaline, but you can use any glitter with small grains. Shake off the extra glitter onto a paper.

That's it! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer Review

WARNING: If you're mad at yourself for not picking up Maybelline's Mineral Power Concealer when you went to the drugstore and you're looking for a blog critisizing this product to make you feel better about not buying it (or is that just me who does things like that?) this is the wrong post for you. I absoloutely love this concealer!!! I bought Maybelline's Mineral Power Concealer in the color "Fair" and it's got to be my favorite concealer that I've tried yet. First of all, it stays on for forever! Most of my concealers only stay for about two hours and then fade! They must be magicians or something, since they always disappear! If you're like me and tired of their tricky magic acts,  this concealer doesn't vanish! It lasts for a long time and is very blendable. I generally use Maybelline's Mineral Power Concealer on blemishes, but it works well on dark circles to. This concealer provides medium to full coverage and works really well on pretty much everything. I like to apply Maybelline's Mineral Power Concealer with E.L.F.'s Concealer Brush ($1) from their Essential Line since the original doe foot applicator isn't as precise and it also gets too much product on your skin. Love it! What's your favorite concealer?

Pros: Long-Lasting, Blendable, Good Coverage
Cons: Useless Aplicator

Grade: A+
